Sale & purchase weekly report ( 11st.Nov.2013 ) 2013. 11. 14
Activity for panamax bulk carriers remains high, both for modern and for older tonnage. On the modern side, the 2005 built “Ocean Lion” has been committed to Greek buyers on a firm price of USD 20,00 million after receiving plenty of interest during her physical inspection in Greece. Meantime, the non-panamax beam vessel “Perly” (77k, 2002 built, Japan) has been reported sold to undisclosed buyers for USD 14,00 million. On supramaxes, Pacific Basin is rumoured to have committed on subjects mv “Medi Chennai” (55k, 2005 built, Japan) at USD 19,00 million, showing a significant increase when comparing with the last similar sale of “Imperial Spirit” (53k, 2005 built) to Greek buyers at USD 18,00 million about a month ago. Finally, supramax “Frontier Angel” (52k, 2001 built, Japan) was privately sold to Greek buyers at USD 14,50 million, again representing a premium over the last sale of “Ocean Morning” (52k, 2001, Japan) at USD 13,10 million during September.  Going to tankers, there seem to be again activity on the Suezmaxes with the sale of “Tenerife Spirit” (149k, 2000 built, S.Korea) to Greek buyers for USD 16,30 million. Meantime Sinokor appears to continue her buying appetite, with the latest reported sales of two VLCC units “BW Lion” and “BW Lake” (298k, 2004 built, S.Korea) from BW Group at USD 40,50 million each unit.
Sale & Purchase weekly report ( 29.Oct 2013) 2013. 11. 01
Dry Cargo market had a tough week, with BDI falling 12% on w-o-w basis, mainly driven by BCI who declined 17,8% w-o-w and BPI who declined 7,5% on w-o-w basis as well. However Sales and Purchase market is still active, especially for quality tonnage and New building orders. On the handies’ side, the most remarkable sale is the En Bloc deal from “Oldendorff” to USA based fund for “Catherine Oldendorff” (31350 dwt , 2003 blt in Japan), “Lilly Oldendorff” (31646 dwt, 2003 blt in Japan), “Carl Oldendorff” (31642 dwt, 2002 blt in Japan) ,”Lucas Oldendorff” (31635 dwt,2002 blt in Japan) and “Albert Oldendorff” (31647 dwt, 2004 blt in Japan) for an En Bloc price of around USD 75,00 million. The sale is subject inspection for two of five units and for the rest of the other three, buyers have waived their right to inspect the vessels. Prices for mid-90’s built panamaxes, continue to be firm, with the sale of “Oriental Pioneer”(69,606 dwt, 1996 built at Japan) at USD 8,2 million to Hong Kong based buyers, when last week panamax “Premnitz” (72,873 dwt, 1994 built at S.Korea) was reported at USD 7,1 million.  The most remarkable deal in the wet sector for this week and of this month in general we dare to say is the one of “Hafnia Tankers” of Denmark, who has completed a private placement of USD 235,0 million in order to fund acquisitions and fleet development. Initially the fleet will consist of 27 product tankers including a USD 125,0 million purchase from “J.Lauritzen” of Denmark for 10 MR product tankers and 8 MR newbuilding orders from “Guangzhou Shipyard International” in China to be delivered in 2015 and 2016. Source: http://www.allied-shipbroking.gr/
